Princeton, NJ, November 12, 2008 — JFK Communications, Inc., a Princeton-based healthcare public relations agency, raised more than $10,000 for the Central and South Jersey affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Sara L. Kouten, VP Finance, JFK Communications, once again led the JFK team as captain this year. Unfortunately, this year, Sara was not only the team captain but also a breast cancer survivor herself. “When I was diagnosed in May 2008 it was a shock, but I decided to stand up and fight,” said Kouten. “Focusing on leading this team and helping others with breast cancer enabled me to stay positive and grateful through my battle against this awful disease.”
The 2008 JFK Communications team included more than 40 friends and family -- the largest showing the agency has had since first participating in 2004. The company quickly exceeded its initial goal of $3,000 when it received a generous $5,000 donation from the Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation. The Blanche & Irving Laurie Foundation was established in 1983 by New Brunswick philanthropist Irving Laurie. The Foundation focuses its support in the areas of healthcare, the arts and children’s welfare.
“I am very grateful for the support offered to breast cancer survivors, co-survivors and caregivers by the Central and South Jersey chapter of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure,” said John F. Kouten, Chief Executive Officer of JFK Communications. “I am humbled by the outpouring of emotional and financial support to our team and to my wife, Sara. As a company that is focused on healthcare and has numerous oncology clients, it is even more gratifying to know we are making a real difference in the lives of people with cancer.”
